DC: Stern Bros Sterling Silver Thimble, Horseshoes and 4-Leaf Clover

Here is an antique sterling silver thimble. It has a pattern of horseshoes and 4-leaf clovers, a pattern made by Stern Bros, with their Fouled Anchor Hallmark and "Sterling" on the outside of the thimble.  There is another hallmark below that, however.  I'm don't know what that is.
Inside is what appears to be a "G" with "A" and "C" inside it.  I'm not sure what this is.  I've seen that "G" that is a clear "S" in other Stern thimbles, with letters inside.
