    Description

    Antique Stone
    Top
    Enameled Sterling Silver Thimble
    Germany * Mid 1900s
This silver thimble has aqua blue enameled sides hand painted with roses.
A wavy guilloche design is engraved in the silver and shows through the translucent enamel
. It has a carnelian stone top
    .
It was made in Germany and inside the top is stamped "935S"
    for 935/1000 pure
    silver (purer than sterling)
    .
It's about an American size 7-8 (14.7 mm diameter opening).
The condition is excellent with no holes, damage or even wear. The enamel is perfect
    .
A very similar enamel thimble in yellow is shown at the top of p. 120 of Bridget McConnel's book
    The Story of the Thimble.
