Description

There were only four Tower Records stores in 1971, two in Sacramento, one in San Francisco and the brand-new store on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. This was created by Tower's original ad firm the Doug Robertson Agency. The art on this merchandising piece was first used as a regional insert in Rolling Stone. These posters are reprints of those and were stapled to telephone poles all over LA, promoting the Sunset store.
These are fun and unusual artifacts from back when the record business was still relatively small.
This one is from Capitol Records and lists Paul McCartney, Grand Funk, Pink Floyd, Leon Russell and the Shelter People, Helen Reddy, McGuinness Flint, Leo Kottke, and the Fortunes
This original poster is offset printed and measures about 11" x 15.5".
Printed in 1971. Created by Tower's first ad agency, the Doug Robertson Agency.
This art was also an ad in the LA regional edition of Rolling Stone
11 x 15.5
